SSJR Succeeds in Claim Construction Hearing for Client Series Seating
November 20, 2017 by SSJR in IP Litigation
SSJR represented Series Seating in patent infringement case against its competitor Ducharme Seating in the U.S. District Court in Miami. Following a five-hour claim construction hearing in Miami, in which eight claim terms of two patents were in dispute, SSJR obtained a favorable ruling for its client blocking the defendant’s efforts to narrow the scope of the patents. Gene Winter, Ben Lehberger and Jon Winter formed the SSJR team. Attorney Jon Winter presented a technology tutorial on the invention and attorney Ben Lehberger argued the issues of claim construction. The invention at issue was a novel seat connection mechanism designed by Mauricio Olarte, a prolific inventor and CEO of Series Seating. A transcript of a hearing in which the Court announced its ruling is attached, in which SSJR prevailed on every term discussed at the hearing.
