Court Rejects Request For Fees Against SSJR Client

A District Court has denied Medtrica Solutions Ltd. and Steris Corp.’s request for fees against SSJR client Cygnus Medical, LLC. The Court noted that Cygnus attempted to negotiate in good faith before filing its patent infringement claim, and that Medtrica and Steris failed to identify any evidence of bad faith. The Court also noted that Cygnus’ claim construction position was justified. Cygnus has appealed to the Federal Circuit seeking to overturn claim construction and the finding of non-infringement.
