Mr. Simonis has significant experience counseling clients of all sizes in IP portfolio management issues. Prior to joining SSJR Mr. Simonis worked as a consulting engineer designing commercial and industrial power and communications systems. Mr. Simonis’ practice focuses on patent prosecution and patent litigation in the North America, Europe and Asia. Mr. Simonis has focused on developing an intellectual property law practice with U.S., European and Asia-based corporations and clients including, Haldex Brake Products AB, the University of Science and Technology of China, Queralt, Inc., Haldex Brake Products Corporation and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Mr. Simonis has drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications in the software arts including pioneering patents in the Telecommunications Expense Management area as well as encryption software and numerous apps for mobile devices. With the ever evolving standards for patentability of software, Mr. Simonis has extensive experience with overcoming 101 rejections and all issues unique to obtaining protection of software in the United States.
Mr. Simonis also has significant experience with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the identification of anonymous copyright infringement including the issuance of DMCA subpoenas and enforcement of copyrights in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Mr. Simonis’ practice further includes intellectual property licensing and trademark prosecution as well as copyright litigation and registration.
Mr. Simonis has drafted, prosecuted and issued hundreds of U.S. patents in the computer, electronic, electrical, software and mechanical arts ranging from TEM systems, to electrical power generation and distribution systems including a focus on green technologies, commercial braking and suspension systems, medical devices and surgical equipment, communication systems, optical and imaging systems, software and integrated circuit fabrication.
