Wesley W. Whitmyer, Jr.
Mr. Whitmyer has been lead counsel in numerous patent and trademark litigations at the trial and appellate level, including Knorr-Bremse v. Dana and Haldex, a landmark Federal Circuit case which abolished the presumption of willfulness for failure to waive attorney-client privilege. He has significant experience counseling clients of all sizes in licensing and IP portfolio management issues. Mr. Whitmyer has prosecuted well over 1000 patent and trademark applications. He has an intimate knowledge of various technologies including: analytical instruments in the fields of optics, mass spectrometry, and avionics; computer hardware, software, networking and wireless; vehicle drive, stability, suspension and braking systems and components; industrial processes such as machine vision, conveying, robotics, wafer and chip processing, and papermaking; the Internet and business methods; and medical equipment including endoscopes and surgical instruments. Mr. Whitmyer is founder of WhitServe LLC, a technology company specializing in tools for implementing knowledge worker functions in web businesses. An inventor himself, Mr. Whitmyer’s patents have been commercialized by NetDocket LLC, and have been licensed to Computer Patent Annuities, Ltd., and to Master Data Center, Inc dba Thomson IP Management and its affiliates Thomson Reuters Corporation and Thomson Reuters PLC.
